Global Risks, Regional Opportunities: Geopolitics and Economic Development in Central Eurasia

The Sixth Annual Eurasia Conference, co-hosted by Eurasia House and Eurasia Centre in the Judge Business School, explored the geopolitical challenges and new economic opportunities in the wider Eurasian region, but especially Central Asia, China, India and other rapidly emerging new markets.

His Excellency Anand Sharma, Minister of State for External Affairs of India, gave a keynote speech on “India in the 21st century and its engagement in the Caspian and wider central Eurasian region”.  He was introduced by Eurasia House president Armen Sarkissian.

Discussions focused on natural resources including nuclear power as an alternative energy, environmental issues and climate change. A session was dedicated to the development of IT and communication systems in the wider region, as well as science and new technologies.

High level government representatives, corporate and business leaders, academics and experts from the region and around the world took part in this annual conference.

Eurasia House director Hratch Tchilingirian was the conference programme director.
